Using the pages

Ten pages, and each does one thing. This page says what that thing is, in the order you are likely to meet them.

Ten pages · all of them work without an account

Making links

Homepage

Paste an address, press Shorten, get a slug. The result shows the short URL, its click count, a QR code and a share row. Below the result is the last few links you made, kept in this browser only — closing the tab loses that list, and nobody else can see it.

Bulk

Paste up to ten addresses, one per line, and get one link per address. A line beginning with # is a comment and is skipped. Anything that is not an absolute http or https address, or that contains a space, is listed in a box above the results and not sent to the server.

The built-in sample is four working addresses and asks for no custom slug, so pressing the button always succeeds. It is there to show the shape of the input, not to demonstrate a failure.

Slug check

Asks whether a particular slug is free before you try to claim it. The answers are: free, reserved by the site itself, already taken, or not a shape a slug can be. It creates nothing.

Looking at links

Every link this server has issued, in a table you can sort and search. Sort by recency, clicks or slug; the search box matches the slug, the title, the note and the host. Clicking a slug opens the reveal page for it.

Each row has a QR button that opens the code in a dialog, and copy buttons for the short URL and the destination. On narrow screens the destination column goes first, then the expiry column, because the slug is what you came for.

Reveal

Type a slug and see where it actually goes, how many times it has been used, when it was made and how long it has left. This is the page to use before clicking something you were sent.

It keeps a list of what you have looked up, in this browser's own storage, so you can go back to one without retyping it. Clearing site data clears that list.

Stats

Totals for the whole service: links made, clicks recorded, and a seven-day column chart. Below that, the most-clicked links, and panels for referrers, devices and countries.

Referrer, device and country breakdown started in v1.2.0, so anything created before that has no detail behind it. The panels say so rather than showing a zero, because a zero there means "not recorded" and not "no traffic".

Report

Tells you what this server holds about one slug: where it goes, how it has been used, and whether it is protected. Nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is deleted from here. Use it to see what somebody else could see about a link.

Making other things

QR

Makes a code for any text, not just an address, and reads one back out of a photo you choose. Size, error-correction level and both colours are yours to set; the swatch rows under each colour field fill it in for you. There is a PNG and an SVG export, and the SVG is drawn from the same module grid the canvas is, so the two cannot drift apart.

Reading a code out of an image uses the browser's own BarcodeDetector. That exists in Chrome and Edge and nowhere else. On other browsers the decode half of the page does nothing at all, because there is no bundled decoder behind it — a decoder running on a server would mean uploading your photo, and this page will not do that.

Tools

An index of the pages above. It exists so the list of them is written down in one place rather than inferred from the navigation.

Nothing on any page needs an account There is no sign-in, and nothing you type is attached to anything. Which also means the only record of what you made is in your own browser — if you clear site data, the recent list on the homepage goes with it.
